FlipType

Frequently asked questions

Is the text really upside down?

No — it is made of different characters that look like rotated letters. That is why it can be pasted as normal text anywhere that supports Unicode.

Why do some letters stay the same?

Letters such as o, s, x and z already look the same when rotated, and a few characters simply have no good lookalike. Those are left untouched.

Does it work on Instagram, TikTok, Discord or Telegram?

In most cases yes. Some apps use fonts that lack rarer symbols, which may show up as empty boxes. Capital letters are the most likely to look off.

Do you store what I type?

No. The page has no backend for the generator; all conversion runs in JavaScript inside your browser. See the privacy notice.

Can screen readers read flipped text?

Usually not in a useful way. Avoid flipped text for anything people need to read with assistive technology, such as names in a work profile or important announcements.

Can I use it offline?

Once the page has loaded it keeps working without a connection until you close the tab.
